ABOUT THE FARM
Chip and JoAnn Councell established the farm, then called Rainbow Farms, soon after they were married in May of 1981. The name was chosen because they hoped to find their pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. JoAnn says the “Pot of Gold” has turned out to be all the friendships they have developed with their customers and employees. The name of the produce market was changed in 2004 to Councell Farms to better reflect the family operated business. The summer market opens when the first local sweet corn is ready. In 2008, the Councells expanded by adding the Field of Fun. In an effort to educate the community about agriculture, Jo Ann Councell conducts tours for about 2,500 school children each September and October. The Creamery at Councell Farms, opened in 2016, now serves hand dipped farm fresh ice cream!
In 2020 the Councell’s have transitioned the daily operations of Councell Farms to their children, Melissa and Jason Dodd and Casey and Jason Councell. The farm will continue to be open during the fall season (September and October) with a variety of pick your own pumpkins, the Field of Fun, our fall seasonal crops and Vanderwende’s hand dipped ice cream.
We would like to thank all our customers for a wonderful 40 years providing you with the freshest produce on the shore!
Councell Farms adjusts our hours accordingly for weather events and farm conditions. If it is raining, muddy or very wet, Councell Farms will be closed. Please check Facebook to check our farm conditions/closings.
